data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div><p><b>July 15, Muff -<\/b> Near Derry lies the\u00a0<strong>IOSAS Centre and Celtic prayer garden<\/strong>. Because, following my trip in Ireland, I read a book by <strong>Ulrich Libbrecht<\/strong> had read about the <strong>influence of Celtic mythology and culture on early monastic Christianity<\/strong> in Ireland, I thought this was worth a diversion.<\/p><\/div><div><p>I soon got into a conversation about that theme at the visitor centre with an old man who was sitting there having something to eat. He told me that one of the <strong>early Christian monks<\/strong> even would have been at the root of the current i<strong>nstitution for the mentally handicapped in Geel<\/strong>.<br \/>Moments later, I learned that the old man\u00a0<strong>Brother Neal Carlin<\/strong>, the founder of\u00a0<strong><span lang=\"EN-US\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.columbacommunity.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Columba Community of Prayer and Reconciliation<\/a><\/span><\/strong>\u00a0was (1981), of which IOSAS is part.<\/p><\/div><div><p>Fr Neal is a <strong>basic Christians<\/strong> who had been inspired by the Latin American priests who were the <strong>sided with the people against dictatorial regimes<\/strong>. Although he was not recognised by the Church of Ireland for 17 years, he simply carried on with what he considered his life's mission, <strong>unpaid<\/strong> admittedly.\u00a0<\/p><\/div><div><p>During the Troubles in Derry, he placed <strong>serving the affected population<\/strong>, both Christians and Protestants. He worked as <strong>pastor<\/strong> in prisons, supported single <strong>widows<\/strong> of victims, and set up centres both in Derry city and just outside it to help those people and <strong>contribute to reconciliation<\/strong>. After the troubles ended, those centres switched to <strong>helping drug and alcohol addicts<\/strong> and disadvantaged people.<\/p><\/div><div><p>Fr Neal (79) insisted together the\u00a0<strong>Celtic Prayer Garden<\/strong>\u00a0to visit and explain its origins. The way to go...<\/p><\/div><div><p>This visit took much longer than planned, but it was worth it and I was, again, <strong>deeply impressed by the
