But in Bari it was pouring with rain and there was a thunderstorm, and it didn\u2019t look as though it would let up any time soon. As I could still find cheap accommodation in a hostel here, I decided to stay.<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">First, I went to the <strong>Pinacoteca<\/strong> where, alongside the permanent historical collection, the retrospective exhibition \u2018Errare \u00e8 umano\u2019 ran from <strong>Biagio Caldarelli<\/strong> (1951\u20131999), a \u2018forgotten\u2019 artist from Bari. Mainly works in pastel on paper: delicate pastel strokes that left line drawings exposed.<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">On the way to the B<strong>Church of St Nicholas<\/strong>, where the remains of \u2018Sinterklaas\u2019 are kept, I visited a <strong>World Press Photo exhibition<\/strong>. Those photos don\u2019t exactly lift your spirits. There really is so much (unnecessary) suffering and misery in this world. And scoundrels \u2014 be they states, greedy industrialists or criminals \u2014 who knowingly cause this. At the entrance to the exhibition were information panels with hopeful messages, emphasising, amongst other things, human perseverance and resilience, but so much injustice, much of which is allowed to go unchecked, offers little cause for hope.<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">A Mass was just taking place in St Nicholas\u2019 Basilica. I stood there listening for quite a while; it was a beautiful service. In the crypt there is.<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-103a64f elementor-widget elementor-widget-image\" data-id=\"103a64f\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\"
