International Campaign for Tibet (ICT) is a movement that advocates worldwide for freedom and respect for the basic human rights of Tibetans. It has offices in the US, Germany, Brussels and the Netherlands. The star actor Richard Gere, which has been campaigning for the Tibetan cause since time immemorial, is its international chairman.
China has occupied Tibet since 1950 and shows little or no respect for the rights of minorities such as the Tibetans, Uighurs and Mongols. On the contrary, it seeks to strip those peoples of their cultural and religious identity and completely 'sinicise‘.
