Three monks from Drago monastery in China's Sichuan province were so battered during their six-year (wrongful) detention in a Chinese prison that they are likely to remain disabled for the rest of their lives.

China installs spyware on mobile phones of Tibetans to spy on their foreign contacts

According to Tibet Watch, China is forcing Tibetans with contacts in exile abroad to install spyware on their mobile phones so that Chinese intelligence agencies can keep a close eye on them.

This even makes it difficult for families to contact their loved ones.

China demolishes 30-metre-high Buddha statue in Tibet

According to sources, Chinese authorities have destroyed a 30-metre-high Buddha statue and 45 prayer wheels around a monastery in Draggo district, Kham, Tibet. Local Tibetans had a permit to build the giant Buddha statue and funded it themselves. Barely six years after it was built, Chinese authorities demolished it.

Recent research: China threatens unique and ancient culture

Amid ongoing concerns over human rights issues in China, a new academic article has shed light on China's policy of so-called resettlement in Tibet, which under the guise of social change is threatening Tibet's unique and ancient culture. The Canadian think tank International Forum For Rights And Security (IFFRAS) writes that people from remote regions are being relocated to areas easily accessible to Chinese authorities to carry out Chinese cultural assimilation programmes.
