Bike tour 2022: Valencia - Museums

25-26 Oct: Valencia - Museum of Fine Arts and IVAM
On Tuesday, I paid a visit to the Museum of Fine Arts, which is just opposite my hostel on the opposite side of Turia Park. It has a rich art collection from Gothic in the 14th-15th centuries to Impressionism in the late 19th-early 20th century. I photographed some of the works that caught my attention and some by famous names.

Sorolla was the pioneering innovator in the Spanish art scene and impressionist Camarlench was one of the first service to paint ordinary people. He was interested in social relations.

On Wednesday after the city walk, I had some time to visit the IVAM - the Institute of Modern Arts, jumping in. An exhibition by the artist Carmen Calvo (1950), who thematises the oppression of women in her installations and 2-dimensional works, and an exhibition by textile artist Teresa Lancet, which makes monumental tapestries. A third exhibition hall was dedicated to the international Zero art movement and its national subgroups.

Both museums are state museums run by Valencia's Generalitat and both are completely free.
