Friday on the road from Raalte to Nijmegen I passed around lunchtime in Loenen, a village in the Veluwe. I had already pedalled 40 km together, the legs were asking for rest and the stomach was begging for input.
I saw a building that looked like a gelag hall from afar and slowed down. The surprise was great: it was not a hospitality hall, but a Buddhist Maitreya Institute. Maitreya means 'Loving kindness'.
A placard on the door announced that it was open on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays, but I suspect it was closed due to the extended Ascension weekend. Too bad.
I took some photos in the garden, stuck some flyers in the mailbox, and obeyed the instructions of my hungry stomach towards catering.
