Saturday, Nov 15: Pozo de los Frailes On Saturday, I took a picture of a curious little building in the shape of a doorless igloo without knowing what this was for. Several followers asked about it.
I asked some staff members in the campsite, but they didn't know either.
When I entered the village Pozo De Los Frailes drove in, I saw another one standing there. So there I had to ask.
The lady at the Tabacos shop knew all about it. They are water reservoirs. During torrential rain, water flows into the igloo at the back through a gully. Along the little window at the front, one can scoop water with a bucket. There are three such in this village, two of which are oblong with more capacity. When the shopkeeper, who preferred not to be photographed, was young, she always had to come and fetch water from such a village reservoir. Times are changing.
Afterwards, she asked me why I was interested in that. When she heard about my #cyclingfortibet trip, I was promptly offered a soft drink. And then she urgently needed to close up shop or her food was burning....
