Compassion Rising Tour 2025: mock airfield 'The Kiek'

Messcherschmitt BF 109

How the Germans led the Allies around the garden

July 5 - In 1940, the Germans laid a mock airfield to between Riel and Alphen, right next to the former railway line that has now been converted into a cycle route 'Bels Line'. The German name was Kamerun SF37, but local residents know the airport as 'The Peak‘.
At the entrance is a fake rust-steel Messcherschmitt BF109, which looks like the real thing from the air.
Thus, the Germans diverted Allied pilots from the real airfield at Gilze-Rijen.
On the site of the airfield is now a potato field. A much more productive use than war gear @NATO hawks.
Below you can see a interesting video of the tourism service.
