The Social, Emotional and Ethical Learning (SEE Learning®) education programme is the culmination of an academic collaboration that began in 1998 between Emory University and His Holiness the Dalai Lama. It offers a universal, non-sectarian and science-based approach to integrate the ethical development of the whole child into education, an approach long advocated by the Dalai Lama: education for the heart and mind.
SEE Learning® provides teachers with a comprehensive framework for the cultivate social, emotional and ethical competences; age-specific curricula consisting of easy-to-implement lessons; and a support structure for teacher preparation, certification of tutors and their ongoing professional development.
The team behind SEE Learning® follows the newest developments on teaching practices and scientific research. It consists of curriculum experts, teachers, and experts in the field of education, developmental psychology and neuroscience and explores innovative topics such as the impact of attention training (mindfulness), cultivating compassion for themselves and others, resilience In trauma processing and ethical discernment. The full curriculum consists of 30 40-minute 'learning experiences' divided into eight chapters. They cover both the personal, the social and the system domain. The curriculum takes into account feedback from teachers in the US, Europe and India who have tested it in their classrooms since 2017. SEE Learning® is open to cooperation with schools and organisations around the world.
