Cycling for Shatsa 2024: Prague

Praag selfie

Prague, one of Europe's most beautiful cities, but in the summer season it is overcrowded. However, there are plenty of other beautiful places that are much less crowded.

Cycling for Shatsa 2024: Dresden

Zwinger Paleis

Dresden, the city almost completely destroyed in 1945, has now almost completely risen from its ashes, but still bears traces not only of the war but also of the dreary GDR era.

Cycling for Shatsa 2024: Berlin

Katedraal Berlijn

Berlin! It needs no repeating: it is a mighty city. No matter how long you stay there as a visitor, you will always be short of time to see everything.

Cycling for Shatsa 2024: Potsdam

Sanssouci Palace Potsdam

Those who like gaudy palaces should definitely visit Potsdam before travelling on to nearby Berlin. But there are also cool neighbourhoods, such as a Dutch quarter and a Russian colony, and the wonderful Barberini Museum with a large collection of French impressionists.

Cycling for Shatsa 2024: Braunschweig

It was bloody hot in Braunschweig, which meant I was able to visit less than desired. Inside churches and monuments the temperature was enjoyable, but outside you were blown over by the heat.

Cycling for Shatsa 2024: Munster

Domplatz Munster

Munster is a cosy city 'on a human scale', with a handsome art museum and beautiful churches. And everything within walking distance, very nice.

25 April: BurgosBurgos is the city of El CID and UNESCO World Heritage Cathedral. Today I slept a little longer to recover from yesterday's long ride. Bike tour 2023: Cáceres UNESCO heritage site

13 April: City visit to Cáceres Today I take a rest day in Cáceres and have time to visit the old city centre. I first strolled to the Plaza Mayor with its many terraces and bars under vaulted galleries and the Torre de Bujaco and Arco de Estrella. The latter gives access to the historic city centre. The side walls of the Arco [...]
